Ana Raquel Madureira completed her PhD degree in Biotechnology at Catholic University of Porto (ESB) in 2010. She is a senior researcher at the collaborative project between Amyris US Biotechnology company and ESB -- Alchemy -- for the valorization of Amyris fermentation processes by-products and development of new ingredients for food, animal feed, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. She supervises doctoral, master and BsC students and she is an invited assistant professor of Industrial Microbiology at ESB. Her research is focused in the valorization of industrial byproducts by the extraction and characterization of molecules and compounds and development of new ingredients for several applications. In this line ,expertise in the characterization of biological activities and physical properties of compounds and development of new ingredients as nanoparticulate systems and ingredients. Expertise in the development of human and animal digestive simulation models for the evaluation of microbiota modulation by bioactive compounds.
