ESB starts Project Good Herbs in Erasmus +

The European Erasmus + program approved funding of the project "Good Plants", facing up to the learning about herbs and other useful plants. This project involves partners from Portugal, Spain, Romania and Slovenia and has the following objectives:

  • Assess training needs in an area of agro-food specialties: herbs that can be used as aromatic and spices in food, ingredients for the food or dietary food supplements.
  • Designing a training program based on existing knowledge about the area and the experience of all partners, from primary production, processing and marketing.
  • Develop content and activities for innovative training offer based on e-learning and available for the sub-sector actors.
  • Develop an innovative platform for open access, online, for training.
  • Train trainers in the production, processing and marketing.
  • Design and implement pilot seminars in order to test and evaluate the training and education materials and the methodology adopted.

The project will last for two years and began in November 2014. It will be coordinated in the ESB by Dr. Eduardo Luis Cardoso – the team will also included Profs. Elizabeth Pinto, Manuela Pintado and Conceição Hogg. Funding for the ESB is about 38,000 euros a total of 150,000 euros of the total budget. At ESB will be located the responsibility regarding herbs.
