MycoTrend wins award with the production plan of wild mushrooms

The Mycotrend, with the collaboration of Dr. Eduardo Luís Cardoso from ESB and the support of Bracing Consulting, was one of the winners of the last edition of "Stimulating Entrepreneurship Project North and Center", a program to support entrepreneurship in the environmental area developed by the Association APEMETA, with the support of the SIAC – System Support for Collective Actions and supported by the ERDF – European Regional Development Fund , in which the COMPETE – Operational Programme for Competitiveness Factors is responsible for the technical, administrative and financial management. 
This program aims to implement actions to promote and streamline the emergence of new entrepreneurs and technically support the creation of innovative and sustainable business in the area of environment.
The MycoTrend is a company specialized in the establishment of plantations and wild mushrooms in the production and sale of mycorrhizal plants for the production of edible mushrooms. Founded by two researchers from the School of Biotechnology, MycoTrend arises from the union between the forest sector and biotechnology aimed at enhancement of forest plantations through its mycological resource. This young company of the Business Incubator of the Catholic Porto in Asprela, is aligned with the global innovation for the cultivation of mycorrhizal wild mushrooms as much as the technologies used and cultivated species which include the famous truffles.
 The prize, awarded in a formal ceremony in December 2013 at the University of Aveiro, highlights the innovative factor of this biotechnological project for the promotion of forests and highlights the potential of entrepreneurship in this sector.
