Catarina Pereira de Melo Vila Real

My graduation was in Nutritional Sciences (2008-2012), whose internship was carried out in Brazil, and my Master Degree in Food Engineering (2012-2014), whose internship was done in Nestlé Portugal. Both courses were obtained at the Faculty of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Portugal (PUC).

The main areas I have been doing some research are nutrition/dietetics, biotechnology and health, namely nutritional epidemiology, functional foods, probiotics and fermented wholegrains. I was a research fellow on FIBREPRO project, an ERAFRICA project (2014-2017), which involved stays in Kenya and Burkina Faso. Currently, I am enrolled in the third year of a PhD in Biotechnology, Food Science and Engineering specialty, at the Research Centre in Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry of PUC. At the university, I had supervising teacher functions in two contexts: six-month student’s guidance with one high school student and teaching in laboratory classes with high school students, during external activities with other Colleges/Schools.
