Gonçalo Soares obtained a bachelor degree in Bioengineering – Specialization in Biomedical Engineering (2014) and a Master degree in Biomedical Engineering (2017) at the Faculty of Biotechnology, Catholic University of Portugal.
His main research areas are biomaterials and regenerative medicine, focusing on the production of new natural-based biomaterials for tissue engineering applications.
Currently, he works as a research fellow at CBQF – Center of Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry, at the Postharvest and Biomaterials lab, developing a new sterilization methodology for sensitive biomaterials, including medical devices, using supercritical carbon dioxide technology. He has been responsible for providing sterilization services, using the aforementioned technology, for a national and an international company. He has also been responsible for the supervision of students from the first course and second course in laboratory activities.
His long-standing goal is to be actively involved in the healthcare science area.
