The research activity of Luis M. Rodríguez-Alcalá started after graduating in Food Science and Technology and Chemical Engineering (2003; Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). In 2009 he completed his Ph.D at Institute of Food Science, Tehcnology and Nutrition (ICTAN, Spain) and afterwards was Postdoc researcher at Institute of Food Science Research (CIAL, Spain).

Since 2013, Luis holds a Research Scientist position at the Centre of Biotechnology and Food Chemistry (CBQF) in the Catholic University of Portugal. He is also an Invited Professor “ad honorem” of Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Invited Associate Researcher of the CYNERIS (Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins, Chile).

Currently, at CBQF he leads lipidomic studies assaying bioactive lipids with a pharmacological approach (Identification/characterization of new sources, pharmacokinetics, stability studies and in vitro/in vivo activity assays). The objective is the elaboration of novel commercial functional foods to improve human health impaired by metabolic disorders applying a neuroscience approach.
