Ana Maria da Silva Paulo is a post-doctoral researcher within the project “Multi‐purpose strategies for broadband agro‐forest and fisheries by‐products valorisation: a step forward for a truly integrated biorefinery”. Her current research topics are related to the treatment of industrial effluents with high salinity using aerobic granules and to the study of EPS-producing halotolerant bacteria. Her main research interests are aerobic and anaerobic biological processes for wastewater treatment and the physiology of bacteria involved in the biodegradation of pollutants. She has an Environmental Engineering degree from the University of Aveiro and a master´s degree on Environmental Management from the University of Minho. Her PhD degree on Environmental Microbiology was obtained at the University of Wageningen (The Netherlands) in collaboration with the University of Valladolid (Spain).
