Francisca Ferreira is a PhD student in CBQF since january 2020, at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (Porto), with a FCT grant. She received her BSc in Bioengineering (2013-2016) and her MSc in Biomedical Engineering (2016-2019) from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Porto, Portugal. Her research interests are focused on the use of microfluidic methodologies based on paper, coupled with spectrophotometric detection, for development of sensors capable of providing rapid analytical measurements. These types of sensors, also known as μPADs, have exponentially been receiving more attention mainly because they are portable, simple, economic and usually disposable devices, that can produce rapid analytical measurements, without requiring complex equipment or specialized technicians.
