Currently working as a researcher in the biological valorization of beta-glucans extracted from fermentation by-products in the scope of project Alchemy. Responsible for the bioactivities and cell culture platform.
With a strong background in biotechnology and molecular biology, I have acquired competences in different methodologies ranging from genetics to proteomics and cell culture (bacteria, yeast, human cell lines). During my PhD thesis at CBMA, University of Minho, I have focus my research interest in the transport of monocarboxylic acids in human cancer cells and explored the mechanism of action of carboxylic acid derivatives with anticancer potential. Later, as a Postdoctoral fellow, at CBMA, University of Minho, I have focused in the study of carboxylic acid transport in bacteria and yeast as a tool for optimization and valorization of industrial microorganism strains.
