I graduated in Genetics and Biotechnology in Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro University (UTAD), in 2010, and took a master’s degree in Laboratorial Clinical Biology, in 2013, in the same institution.
I had a FCT research grant (2010) in Chemistry Centre – Vila Real (CQ-VR) entitled Comparative study of the antioxidant capacity and polyphenol content of Douro wines by chemical and electrochemical methods.
In the master thesis, I studied the chemoprotective effects of polyphenols of Douro wines, studying the captation capacity of nitric oxide radical by Douro wines. This work was developed in Laboratory of Farmacognosy, Pharmacy Faculty of Oporto University (FFUP).
Currently, in the Plantech group research, I will study flavescence dorée, a phytoplasma which infects grapevines and causes a decrease in wine production, inducing a great negative economic impact.
