Marta Nunes

Marta Nunes da Silva is a biologist with a Master's Degree in Environmental Toxicology and Contamination and PhD in Agricultural Sciences (from the Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto, to be completed soon). Her career has focused on understanding the response of crops with great economical interest to biotic and abiotic stresses, using high throughput methodologies.  Marta's research expertise comprises: phytopathology (using physiological, morphological, genomic and metabolomics approaches to mitigate plant diseases), plant nutrition (namely the effect of metal contamination and different cultural practices on crop mineral nutrition), and plant resistance to xenobiotics (unraveling the molecular and physiological mechanisms involved in phytoremediation processes of contaminated environments by heavy metals or CO2).
