Raquel Madureira holds a degree in Microbiology and a PhD in Biotechnology, attributed by Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in 2010. She is a Senior Researcher at Alchemy project and Invited Assistant Professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where she teaches Industrial Microbiology. Most part of her research career involved the participation in several industry-led projects, for the establishment of residues/ by-products integrated valorisation strategies and new products development for human nutrition, animal feed and skincare/cosmetics (e.g. bioactive compounds, nano and microparticulate systems). She has special research interest in in vitro models development for biological phenomena simulation and microbiome modulation (gut-skin), for bioactive compounds testing (e.g. prebiotic and postbiotics). Member of European projects panel of evaluators for several entities, and member of 3 scientific journals editorial panels. She coordinates scientific projects and is team member of more than 20 national and international projects, 6 patents, has published more than 70 publications, and participated in more than 20 oral communications.
