Susana S.M.P. Vidigal is a Researcher in the Alchemy project at Centro de Biotecnologia e Química Fina (CBQF) of Escola Superior de Biotecnologia – Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP). She obtained her PhD degree in Biotechnology with specialization in Chemistry at UCP in 2011, after graduation on Microbiology from the same institution. Her research interests are focused on the development of new analytical methodologies using flow-based systems. The developed methodologies enable the performance of online chemical and biochemical reactions (colorimetric and enzymatic reactions), separation processes (solid-phase, membrane-based, low-pressure chromatography) and mineralization of samples. The main purpose was to make a contribution to the development of automatic, miniaturized and cost-effective methodologies applied to food samples.

Currently, her research interests focus on the development of new and sensitive analytical methods using gas and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for quantification and identification of biomolecules from industrial fermentation pipelines.
